Why Should Healthcare Professionals Attend?
Genomics is rapidly moving from specialist services into everyday primary care practice. From inherited cancer risk to pharmacogenomics and referral decisions, clinicians are increasingly expected to recognise when genetics matters — and act confidently.
This session, delivered by Dr Mark J. Hudson-Peacock, provides a concise, practical overview of how genomics is shaping modern primary care. Using real-world clinical examples, the webinar will simplify complex concepts and demonstrate how genomics can support safer prescribing, better risk assessment, and more informed referral decisions for UK clinicians.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
-
Recognise when genomic considerations are relevant in primary care consultations.
-
Apply basic principles of risk assessment for inherited conditions.
-
Understand the role of pharmacogenomics in medicines optimisation.
-
Identify appropriate referral pathways for genetic services in the UK.
Key Benefits

Meet the Speaker
Dr Mark J Hudson-Peacock
BSc (Hons), MBBCh,FRCP,MIoD. Consultant Dermatologist & CMO, The Dermatology Partnership
He launched the first commercially available Pharmacogenomics (PGx) test in the UK, which has full MHRA registration and CE and UKCA marks. With a passion for therapeutics, he aims to drive safer prescribing through evidence-based, affordable PGx products.
Understanding that around 90% of medications only work in 30–50% of patients, Dr Hudson-Peacock advocates personalised medicine using simple saliva tests to generate individual medication reports, improving patient outcomes and sustainability by reducing ineffective prescribing.
